ABOUT
CJ is a three year old Siamese cat (common mix, not purebred). He was adopted December 22, 2024 from Final Victory Animal Rescue in Columbia South Carolina by the Ledna Family. Rescuers said he was "roaming the streets" when they found him. Final Victory named him Mr. Magoo - so his full name now is Mr. CJ Magoo.
Originally, Magoo was not neutered and a foster family reported that he was "spraying" in the house. I inquired with the rescue group about getting him fixed before I adopted but they said that a "heart murmur" had been detected during a regular physical exam and they were hesitant to do the surgery. However, Mr. Magoo had an echo-cardiogram done on December 9, 2024 at CVETS (Columbia Veterinary Emergency Trauma and Specialty) and a specialist said that even though they did confirm a "Grade 5" heart murmur, he was going to "live a long life"; they cleared CJ to get neutered. Besides getting fixed, he also received a rabies shot on December 17, 2024.
After bringing Mr. CJ Magoo home to Tennessee, the Ledna's noticed that he had a continual gooey brown discharge coming from his eyes all the time; family members would wipe it clean but then it would return soon after. A local vet determined that he had a condition called bi-lateral eye entropion and that he needed a surgery on his eye lids to correct the problem.
Dr. Chris Briggs of Tri-County Veterinary Clinic in Sevierville Tennessee performed the procedure to fix CJ's eyes on August 19, 2026. His eyes, with all the stitches, looked really bad immediately after surgery but healed wonderfully after only a few weeks. He now has no problems with his eyes.
CJ has been living with the Ledna Family in Lewisburg since they all moved to Pennsylvania from Tennessee on January 1, 2026.
CARE
Cat care will take place at 1027 Washington Ave, Lewisburg, PA. The back door next to the garage will be left unlocked. There are indoor security cameras used to watch CJ while he is alone. CJ does not have any special needs at this time, although he probably needs to be checked by a vet for some regular vomiting after eating too much or too fast.
Mr. CJ Magoo has both dry food and wet food available. His food dish has an attached canister that can be filled and a single packet of wet food can be provided at the same time. The dry food canister alone, if filled all the way, would last several days - unless CJ really overeats. A matching water container should also be filled with water. Oddly, CJ is more inclined to drink out of the toilet, so be sure to leave the toilet seat cover up.
CJ loves going outside but he is mostly an indoor cat; I do allow him to visit the outdoors BUT only on a leash and with supervision. He is quick at getting out the door if it is left open and he is a real Houdini in getting off of his leash vest if he gets startled. Thankfully, anytime he has "run" away, he doesn't go very far - mostly just next door if even that.
All of the cat food, treats, and toys are in the laundry room, which is adjacent to the kitchen and garage. CJ's litter box and extra litter are in the hallway closet next to the single bathroom.
PREFERENCES
CJ is loving and personable but he does not like to be held nor does he like people touching his underside or back end. He has never caused any serious injury to anyone with biting or scratching (he does have front and back claws), but he does tend to nip at anyone who pets his belly or back end too long.
Mr. Magoo is afraid of his own shadow. Sudden moves, loud noises, or large unknown objects make him jump and / or move away scared.
CJ is very playful, like a kitten, and likes toys. If he is bored and no toys are around, he will paw at family members and play bite. He has even been known to run and playfully attack legs if one stands up and walks away after a play session; this signals that, while we might be done playing, he is not.
Mr. CJ Magoo has a lot of toys, some of them are actually electronic and can be re-charged at the kitchen counter with the USB charger / outlet. One of his favorites is a mouse-looking thing that rolls around and slaps it's tale electronically. Unfortunately, you might have to look under the couches or beds to find it, since it has a mind of it's own. Another favorite is the red lazer pen that he loves to chase around. But, CJ also has tons of other non-electronic toys in the glass jar in the laundry room. All of the cat care items and toys are in the laundry room, which is adjacent to the kitchen and garage.
CJ can have treats when visiting; there are a wide variety that he likes and all are in the laundry room. There is not a specific limit but just use common sense and don't go overboard.
Finally, don't forget, CJ will try to dart out the door if given the opportunity. If for some reasons he makes it out, just follow him and clap your hands telling him to get back to his house. He usually runs back to the porch if I yell at him and slowly chase him.
